Download the latest version and move it to your Applications folder.
The app will check for Homebrew and Wine upon launch. If they aren't installed, the app will guide you through the process via Terminal. Note: Initial installation requires an internet connection and may take 10-20 minutes depending on your computer and internet speed. Keep a lookout for password prompts that will appear in Terminal asking for your computer password.
If the app is blocked by macOS security with a message saying "Apple could not verify this app is free of malware", you have two options:
Option 1 (Quick Method): Click Done on the warning dialog, then right-click (or Control-click) the app in your Applications folder and select Open. A new dialog will appear - click Open again to bypass the security check. Note: This method sometimes does not work depending on your macOS version, so you may need to use Option 2.
Option 2 (System Settings): Click Done on the warning dialog, then go to System Settings → Privacy & Security. Scroll down to the Security section where you'll see a message that the app "was blocked to protect your Mac." Click the Open Anyway button next to this message.
Wine and QuickTime 7 are not compatible with H.264 encoded videos. Videos must be delivered in MPEG-4 format. If you have H.264 videos, use the Video Converter tool found under the Tools menu to quickly convert your existing videos to a compatible format.
How to identify H.264 videos: If you encounter a video that does not play or causes Director to freeze during playback, this indicates the video is encoded in H.264 format and requires conversion. Use the Video Converter tool to resolve this issue.
The Video Converter tool will automatically replace the original file in the Director folder with the properly encoded format. It will keep the same file name and extension, ensuring the video works properly in Director playback without requiring any additional configuration.
